WALNUT, Calif. – Junior Jami Schlueter moved into the top-10 nationally this season in the decathlon with a big career-best point tally on day two of the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer-Lodge Stadium. Schlueter became the seventh Husky ever to score over 7,700 points, as he finished with 7,712 for his 10 events of work.

Schlueter's score ranks 10th in the NCAA this season and would have made the cut last year for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will be Schlueter's ultimate goal. After posting four lifetime bests on Wednesday, Schlueter began day two with a time of 14.64 seconds in the 110m hurdles into a headwind. He then threw a PR in the discus, going 135-7, and he followed that with a pole vault clearance of 14-9. He was just a couple feet off his javelin PR, going 169-6 in the ninth event. Schlueter then closed things out with a 1,500-meters run in 4:45.96.

Teammate Bruno Comin Pescador did not continue his decathlon after finishing day one on Wednesday

The only other action at the Relays today was the men's and women's javelin competitions. Four Husky women fired away. In the collegiate/open section, Natalie Holmer took second at 146-8. Kathleen Horn was right behind her in third with a season-best of 146-5. Redshirt freshman Ashley Schroeder was sixth, also landing a season-best of 144-11. Sophomore Saydi Orange went 139-8 in the invite section.

The men saw Jack Olsen extend his season-best out to 213-5 while Brice Crider threw 195-11.

A busy Friday for the Huskies begins at 10 a.m. in the field and 11 a.m. on the track.
