Cal Men’s Soccer Reveals 18-Game Schedule

Jun 20, 2023
All-Pac-12 forward Nonso Adimabua, who scored two goals and five points in his 2022 Cal debut, returns to lead the Bears into the fall season.

BERKELEY – The California men's soccer team's 2023 regular-season schedule features 18 games, with eight home matches and 10 that will air on the Pac-12 Networks.

Led by All-Pac-12 second-team forward Nonso Adimabua and midfielder Wyatt Meyer, the Golden Bears will face seven opponents that reached the 2022 NCAA Tournament, including two – UNC Greensboro and Portland – that advanced to the quarterfinals.

After a pair of local exhibition games, the Bears head to North Carolina to take on UNCG in their Aug. 24 season opener and play Wake Forest on Aug. 27. The Spartans and Demon Deacons are among five Cal opponents that were nationally ranked in the final United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll of 2022, with UNCG – the No. 12 seed in last year's NCAAs – ranked fifth and Wake at No. 24.

Cal plays Fairleigh Dickinson in its Sept. 1 home opener on Goldman Field at Edwards Stadium and hosts Dartmouth on Sept. 3 in its first Pac-12 Network game of the season. Also in Berkeley, the Bears play the first Pac-12 Conference match of 2023 when they host Oregon State on Sept. 14 and welcome Washington on Sept. 17, with both games broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks. One of the most challenging conferences in the nation, the Pac-12 features three teams that were seeded in last year's NCAA Tournament, including second-seeded UW, the eighth-seeded Beavers and fifth-seeded Stanford.

The Bears play the talented Pilots on Oct. 10 in Berkeley, with the Pac-12 Networks showing the nonconference game. Portland was ranked 10th last season.

Cal closes out its home schedule on Nov. 5 vs. San Diego State and ends the regular season on Nov. 11 in the Big Slam at Stanford. Pac-12 Bay Area will show both matches.
